Grandpa Henry always keeps his big book under his pillow. He calls it the magical book.  I have always been very curious about the book. Grandpa Henry said that he was a paleontologist many years ago. Now you must be wondering, what this big word means. Paleontologist is a scientist who studies fossils. Grandpa never lets his book away. One day when Grandpa was out, I almost reached the book when a voice came, “Dennis, are you back?” Grandpa said. I missed seeing what was in it.

Hi, I am Dennis. I am 9 years old. Grandpa Henry told me that he recused me from a wicked lady and raised me as his grandchild.

[a few months later]

Grandpa is not well. I called the doctor. The doctor said he is too old and is in his last days.

“Dennis!! Come near me, boy. I have something to tell you. You always wanted to know what's in this book. 

Today, I will give this book to you. Never let it away from you. This book is magical. Keep it under your pillow before you go to sleep. You can see its magic. There is an address on the last page of it. After me, go to this address, Melissa will take care of you. You will be safe there.”, said Grandpa.

[A week later]

Aunt Melissa is a kind-hearted lady, but Jack says she is very strict as she makes the same tasteless mashed potato and uncooked beans 3 times a day. Jack is just 5 years older than me. 

“Why do you hate Melissa, she is your mother.”, I asked.

“Ha ha ha”, laughed Jack and said, “This lady can’t be my mother. Do I in any way resemble her? I look more like my dad.”

“What about you? Why are you here?”, asked Jack.

“Grandpa Henry had rescued me from a wicked lady. All these years I lived with him. Now that he is no more, I came to Aunt Melissa”, I explained.

“Welcome to our house, I am sure this time no hero is coming to save you”, said Jack and turned up to sleep. I too made my bed ready to sleep.
